About the International School of Schaffhausen (ISSH) Day & Boarding School - Locally Rooted, Globally Connected

At ISSH, we don’t just educate, we unlock potential. Nestled in the scenic town of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, our day and boarding school is a vibrant hub for students aged 3 to 18, representing more than 30 nationalities. As an IB World School, we offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), with student outcomes that consistently exceed global averages and a 100% pass rate. In addition to the IB Diploma, students can also earn the U.S.-accredited Middle States Association (MSA) High School Diploma, opening doors to universities worldwide.

Founded in 1999 as a private, non-profit foundation school, ISSH is led by a dedicated and experienced Leadership Team, committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and global citizenship. We empower students to grow, not just academically, but as compassionate, capable individuals ready to make their mark in the world.

Our vibrant campus includes:

  • A warm, bilingual Early Years Centre for children aged 3 months to 6 years (English/German)

  • Primary and Secondary Sections, offering a seamless and enriching learning journey

  • An academically rigorous IB Diploma Programme, preparing students for top universities around the world

  • A family-style boarding programme for up to 25 students from around the globe

Our international teaching staff bring diverse perspectives, advanced qualifications, and a passion for learning. While English is the language of instruction, German is taught school-wide, and French is introduced from age 10. Students who need additional support benefit from our tailored English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme, helping them thrive in a multilingual, multicultural environment.
