Main Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Deliver the Music learning programmes according to the needs of students (group and individual) in line with the YCIS International Curriculum, IGCSE and IB Diploma as appropriate.
• Develop/refine music curriculum documentation and assessment tasks in line with the YCIS International Curriculum, IGCSE and IB Diploma as appropriate.
• Support, motivate, and advise other teachers, and work alongside them in the integration of music within the Learning Community model as appropriate.
• Compile and work within the budget allocated to Music, and prioritise resource needs appropriately.
• Maintain the inventory to meet the needs of the Music curriculum
• Support the co-curricular music programme through involvement in Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), as required.
• Prepare students for key performances.
• Coordinate within the Performing Arts team, the development of a cohesive and effective long-term plan in Music.
These duties may be amended to meet the changing demands of the school at the discretion of the School Leadership Team and following consultation with the Music Specialist.
Professional Development:
As a reflective learner who takes responsibility for their professional development and progression (taking into account the school’s priorities and their own professional needs), the Music Specialist is expected to make full use of the opportunities and training provided by the school.
General Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Music plus teaching certificate or license
- At least 2 years of relevant full-time teaching experience as a qualified teacher
- IB DP experience or qualification is preferable
- Have a passion for teaching students
- Be good team players
- Are sensitive and responsive to the needs of students
- Demonstrate commitment to teamwork
- Are good role models to students and conduct themselves professionally
