About BASIS International School Shenzhen
BASIS International School Shenzhen opened in 2015 and was the very first school in our network. Originally located in a renovated previous structure, in 2023 the school moved into its beautiful new campus, with the ability to accommodate over 1,600 students in Grades Pre-K – 12 and state-of-the-art facilities for performing and visual arts, athletics, and sciences, in addition to stunning outdoor spaces and gardens. The campus location gives easy access to all of the best of Shenzhen, including all types of cuisine, shopping, and a short ferry or train ride to both Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
Our Primary School teachers adopt a collaborative, co-teaching approach to enhance student engagement and learning opportunities. The Subject Expert Teacher (SET) assumes the lead in delivering engaging, subject-specific learning experiences, while the Learning Enhancement Teacher (LET) ensures individual student understanding. Together, you cultivate a joyful and rigorous learning culture that celebrates hard work and where intellectual pursuit leads to exceptional student outcomes.
As a History Subject Expert Teacher, you teach students world history as a means to develop global perspectives and understand how and why historical events happened. You cover a wide variety of topics focused on the five major geographical regions of the globe, such as culture, economic systems, social structures, and major historical events. You also collaborate with fellow teachers to tie in lessons with what students are learning in other subjects, such as music and art.

You will also:

  • Pursue continuous professional growth by participating in ongoing professional development, collaborating with colleagues, and staying informed on the latest educational techniques and best practices in your field

Who We’re Looking For
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in your subject area (Elementary and Early Education degrees are also highly valued for Pre-K through Grade 5).
  • Experience: At least two years as the lead teacher in a classroom, a requirement for obtaining a working visa.

Accommodation

Furnished housing is provided by the school. A housing allowance in lieu of provided housing is also
available as an alternate option.

Flights/Transport

Economy-class airfare for the employee and accompanying, immediate family to relocate to China at the beginning of employment, and back to the employee’s home country upon successful completion of final employment term in China. Annual allowance for employee expenses for home return trip or vacation travel during school breaks.

Moving Allowance

Allowance for moving expenses related to relocation to the employee’s BASIS International School
city and back to the employee’s home country at the end of employment in China.

Dependent Opportunities

Tuition waivers for up to two employee children.

Medical

An international healthcare plan for employees and accompanying spouse and up to two

Retirement

All employees are eligible for an annual 10% retirement benefit paid at the end of each
