Are you a practical, creative, and resilient educator with a passion for hands-on learning?
Teenage Kicks, a specialist independent school for pupils with EHCPs and diverse learning needs, is looking for an inspiring Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to join our team from September 2025.
This is not your average teaching role. Our DT provision is rooted in real-world skills, vocational learning, and helping young people unlock confidence through practical success. We deliver projects in woodwork, basic electronics, and computer-based design — no CAD/CAM machines required, just strong relationships, a safe environment, and purposeful teaching.
What You’ll Do:
Deliver engaging DT lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils in small classes
Lead practical projects in woodwork, electronics, and digital design
Adapt lessons to support students with SEMH needs and EHCP outcomes
Foster a calm, structured workshop environment
Inspire pupils to create, solve problems, and take pride in their work
Contribute to our inclusive, trauma-informed school culture
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
Experience delivering DT in a school or vocational setting
Strong skills in hand tools, basic circuits, and digital design platforms
A calm, relational approach to behaviour and classroom management
Creativity, patience, and a genuine belief in second chances
What We Offer:
A supportive and collaborative team environment
A practical curriculum with flexibility and purpose
A meaningful opportunity to make a difference every single day
Access to CPD and professional development tailored to specialist provision
Term-time working (plus 5 INSET days)
