Title: Secondary Physical Education & Health Teacher 

      
Job Objective: To promote students’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being by designing engaging PE and Health programs that encourage lifelong fitness, healthy choices, and positive attitudes toward wellness.
Qualifications:     
Education: U.S. Teaching Certification or Equivalent
Master’s degree in Physical Education and Health or equivalent preferred.
International experience is preferred.
Experience: At least three years of teaching experience, preferably in international
settings
Prior experience teaching Physical Education and Health is preferred
Experience integrating UDL practices in a DP classroom is an
advantage
Knowledge & Skills: Innovative Mindset, Collaborative, Flexible, Exhibits the Characteristics of the IB Learner Profile
Experience in a similar position with demonstrated success in student
achievement
Ability to integrate technology, case studies, simulations, and
real-world applications into teaching

Major Areas of Responsibility:
Curriculum & Instruction:
Consistently plan and document units of study.
Plan a robust Physical Education/Health program aligning with the programs in ES, MS and HS Physical Education/Health to ensure alignment across divisions.
First aid qualification 
Coordinate and organize activities for optimal learning.
Teach knowledge and skills through Shape America Physical Education standards and AISD Health Wellness and Sexuality Education standards.
Provide individual demonstrations, small group, or whole class instructions in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students.
Continuously monitor student learning and make appropriate modifications of goals and strategies to meet students’ needs.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, and productive environment during class sessions and field trips.
Instruct students in proper use, care, and safe handling of sports equipment.
Provide for safe storage and proper use of materials and equipment. 
Make minor adjustments and request repairs to equipment as required.
Maintain resources to the required safety standards and renew, as necessary within the budgetary allowance.
Book sports facilities (like swimming pools, fields, tennis courts) and carry out the necessary administration as required.
Relationships and Communication:
Collaborate with all the members of the Physical Education/Health Department for planning.
Participate on a grade level team to monitor student progress and plan social emotional learning opportunities for students.
Provide Advisory lessons for a small group of students and accompany them on a Discovery Week trip.
Organize PE / Sport workshops for staff and parents when appropriate.
Assessment:
Maintain, update, and keep a record of the student's behavior and performance in various assessments.
Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
Demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for different learners in the classroom.
Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.
Environment:
Create a safe learning environment that is conducive to student learning.
Create a flexible learning environment where students may choose where and how they learn.
Allow students voice and choice in the classroom.
Provide movement or brain breaks for students throughout the block periods.
Participate in the provision of co-curricular activities including liaising with other schools and clubs to arrange fixtures.
Professional Responsibilities:
Demonstrate commitment to personal continuous professional growth and development.
Engage with students in meaningful activities beyond the classroom.
Abide by all school policies and procedures.
Act as a positive role model for students.
Undertake any other duties within the department as directed by the Principal.
Assignment of Duties:
Teaching assignments and outside of class duties will be determined by the administration in accordance with school policy. Normally, teachers will have the equivalent of at least one “prep period” and one other non-teaching “duty” period, on average, per day.
 
Duties Beyond the Classroom:
Classroom teaching is the fundamental responsibility of every staff member. In addition, involvement with students and other staff members in meaningful activities beyond the classroom, especially in the areas of student activities, sports, and clubs, curriculum development, and planning special events, is a vital part of an AISD teacher’s job. 

Number of Contract Days

Teachers have 190 contract days.
Principals have 205 contract days

Starting Salary Range

Gross Salary: $71,500

Accommodation

Furnished apartment selected by the school is provided.

Flights/Transport

Annual round-trip economy excursion airfare Dhaka-point of origin-Dhaka for employee and listed full-time residing dependents.

Utilities

Up to $3,500 per household per year for gas, electricity, and water, plus an additional $1,000 maximum per year for dependent children.

Moving Allowance

Shipping: $5,000 for a single, $7,000 for a teaching couple, and an additional $500 for each dependent child up to a maximum of 2 dependents.

Settling in Allowance: $1,000 for a single teacher, $1,500 for a family (one teacher teaching at AISD), and $2,000 for a teaching couple with or without dependents.

Dependent Opportunities

2 children per teacher or 3 children for a teaching couple.

Medical

School-sponsored international health insurance plan for the employee and dependents that reside with the employee or are full-time college students not more than 26 years of age.

Dental

The School will pay the cost of the health insurance provided by the School for Employee and spouse (if residing in Dhaka), and minor dependents who currently reside with the Employee or are under the age of 26, regardless if they are residing with the Employee or not.
The School provides a total Dental/Vision self-insurance benefit of $750 a year (per person) to be used over the length of the contract. This coverage is provided to the employee, Spouse and dependent children who are covered under the AISD Health Insurance Plan. This benefit expires at the termination of the contract. Benefits are for each covered family member separately – unused benefits from one family member cannot be used by another family member.
All Claims for vision must be submitted to the School’s Insurance carrier and the unpaid portion may then be claimed from the School by submitting an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the Insurance carrier showing the unpaid balance.

Laptop Allowance: $1500 as part of the Bring Your Own Device program to purchase an Apple laptop.

Retirement

U.S. Citizens: The school will contribute 10% of the Employee’s base salary, on a monthly basis, into the schools’ 401K AISD Retirement Plan conditional on the employee also making a minimum monthly contribution of 3% or more (up to the IRS limits), of their base salary into that same plan. If the Employee contributes less than 3%, they are not eligible to receive the 10% contribution.

Non-U.S. Citizens: The school will contribute 10% of the Employee’s base salary, on a monthly basis, to the Employee for their retirement. The Employee is responsible to set up their own retirement program.
