Title: IBDP Economics and Business Management Teacher (Tentative)

      
Job Objective: Responsible for instructing students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Economics and Business Management curriculum, fostering analytical thinking, real-world application of concepts, and inquiry-based learning. The teacher will guide students in developing economic literacy, business acumen, and global perspectives while preparing them for success in IB internal and external assessments.
Qualifications:     
Education: U.S. or Equivalent Teacher Certification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business, or related field preferred
Experience: At least three years of teaching experience, preferably in international settings
Prior IB Diploma Programme (Economics and/or Business Management) teaching experience preferred
Experience with external assessments, curriculum design, and interdisciplinary learning an advantage
Experience integrating UDL practices in a DP classroom an advantage
Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of IB Economics and Business Management curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices
Experience in a similar position with demonstrated success in student
achievement
Ability to integrate technology, case studies, simulations, and
real-world applications into teaching

Major Areas of Responsibility:
Plan and prepare throughout the year for effective instruction in Economics and Business Management.
Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to inquiry, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Deliver instruction aligned to the IB Economics and Business Management curriculum, including preparation for Internal Assessments and External Assessments.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, styles, and backgrounds.
Set and maintain high expectations for student learning and academic integrity, while providing high levels of support
Accurately assess student performance using IB rubrics and school grading policies.
Continuously monitor student learning and adjust goals and strategies as necessary.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and classroom resources.
Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding progress and expectations.
Be accessible to students and parents during and outside of class hours for academic support.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop cohesive curriculum materials and cross-disciplinary connections.
Stay current in the fields of Economics, Business, and IB pedagogy through coursework and professional networks.
Employ technology and global case studies to enhance learning.
Engage in professional growth and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Support student learning beyond the classroom through clubs, competitions (e.g., Model UN, Business/Economics clubs, service projects), field trips, or other co-curricular activities.
Abide by all school policies and act as a positive role model for students.
Assignment of Duties:
Teaching assignments and additional responsibilities will be determined by the administration in accordance with school policy. Teachers will normally have at least one “prep period” and one other non-teaching duty period, on average, per day.
Duties Beyond the Classroom:
While classroom teaching is the primary responsibility, AISD teachers are also expected to contribute meaningfully to the school community. This includes involvement in student activities, sports, service learning, clubs, curriculum development, and planning school events—helping students apply learning in authentic contexts and develop as global citizens. 

Number of Contract Days

Teachers have 190 contract days.
Principals have 205 contract days

Starting Salary Range

Gross Salary: $71,500

Accommodation

Furnished apartment selected by the school is provided.

Flights/Transport

Annual round-trip economy excursion airfare Dhaka-point of origin-Dhaka for employee and listed full-time residing dependents.

Utilities

Up to $3,500 per household per year for gas, electricity, and water, plus an additional $1,000 maximum per year for dependent children.

Moving Allowance

Shipping: $5,000 for a single, $7,000 for a teaching couple, and an additional $500 for each dependent child up to a maximum of 2 dependents.

Settling in Allowance: $1,000 for a single teacher, $1,500 for a family (one teacher teaching at AISD), and $2,000 for a teaching couple with or without dependents.

Dependent Opportunities

2 children per teacher or 3 children for a teaching couple.

Medical

School-sponsored international health insurance plan for the employee and dependents that reside with the employee or are full-time college students not more than 26 years of age.

Dental

The School will pay the cost of the health insurance provided by the School for Employee and spouse (if residing in Dhaka), and minor dependents who currently reside with the Employee or are under the age of 26, regardless if they are residing with the Employee or not.
The School provides a total Dental/Vision self-insurance benefit of $750 a year (per person) to be used over the length of the contract. This coverage is provided to the employee, Spouse and dependent children who are covered under the AISD Health Insurance Plan. This benefit expires at the termination of the contract. Benefits are for each covered family member separately – unused benefits from one family member cannot be used by another family member.
All Claims for vision must be submitted to the School’s Insurance carrier and the unpaid portion may then be claimed from the School by submitting an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the Insurance carrier showing the unpaid balance.

Laptop Allowance: $1500 as part of the Bring Your Own Device program to purchase an Apple laptop.

Retirement

U.S. Citizens: The school will contribute 10% of the Employee’s base salary, on a monthly basis, into the schools’ 401K AISD Retirement Plan conditional on the employee also making a minimum monthly contribution of 3% or more (up to the IRS limits), of their base salary into that same plan. If the Employee contributes less than 3%, they are not eligible to receive the 10% contribution.

Non-U.S. Citizens: The school will contribute 10% of the Employee’s base salary, on a monthly basis, to the Employee for their retirement. The Employee is responsible to set up their own retirement program.
