Since 2013, WAT has delivered a full IB continuum, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). The school is celebrated for its holistic approach, which balances academic rigour with creative and physical development – evident in its strong Arts and Health programmes alongside Maths, Science, and Humanities. English is the language of instruction, and extensive support is provided for students who speak other languages.
WAT serves a diverse and inclusive student body drawn from both expatriate and local communities. Students are encouraged to be intellectually curious and socially responsible, engaging in inquiry-based learning that connects to real-world issues of both local and global significance. As a member of the Orbital Education Group, WAT offers its students access to an international network and global opportunities. The school’s progressive vision and commitment to nurturing global citizens make it an ideal environment for internationally minded educators.
Ethos: World Academy of Tirana
WAT’s educational philosophy is rooted in values of excellence, respect, responsibility, integrity, and compassion. The school places equal emphasis on academic achievement and personal development, encouraging students to grow cognitively, socially, emotionally, and ethically. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary, enabling learners to make meaningful connections across subjects and develop as independent, reflective thinkers.
At the heart of WAT’s ethos is a strong commitment to fostering global citizenship. Students are taught to value diversity, respect others and the environment, and take initiative through service learning and community engagement. Teachers play a crucial role in modelling and encouraging these principles, and benefit from working in a school culture that promotes open dialogue, professional collaboration, and shared purpose. The result is a learning community where students are equipped not only for academic success, but also for a meaningful and engaged life beyond school.
