Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA is based in Mbabane, Swaziland. The city has a population of 95,000 and is the capital of Swaziland, a landlocked country with Mozambique to its northeast and South Africa bordering its south. The school was founded in 1963 as one of Africa’s first multi-racial schools, and its Kamhlaba title meaning ‘all of one world’ was conferred on the school in 1967 by His Majesty King Sobhuza II. Waterford offers education to Forms 1 to 5, with Form 5 sitting the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) qualification, followed by two years dedicated to the International Baccalaureate. The school is also a member of United World Colleges (UWC). The curriculum is taught in English, with additional languages offered including the native SiSwati.

Waterford Kamhlaba is one of Africa’s top schools, with students obtaining an average of 34 points in their International Baccalaureate exams, an average that equates to more than four A grades at A Level in the UK. Every student that graduates from Waterford at the IB level can obtain a scholarship to attend one of 90 universities in the US, including Harvard and Princeton, although many prefer to take up places around the world, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Values and vision

Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA passionately believes that all young people must be given access to education of the highest standard to enable them to realise their potential. The school is proud to deliver that opportunity to disadvantaged yet talented African students through its Scholarship Programme.

Since signing up with Schrole we have been very impressed by the customer service, the modern-looking online platform, the absence of placement fees, and the various other Schrole products that we may be able to benefit from in the future. We have filled a number of positions this year with candidates from Schrole, during a particularly difficult recruitment year for us. The customer service is terrific. It seems that Schrole is leading the way in moving teacher recruitment into the 2020's.
