About Role:

Drama at DHSZ consists of a compulsory curriculum for all students and a vibrant co-curricular community. We are looking for a skilled, passionate, and collaborative educator who understands the role of drama as a valuable creative discipline and with an essential role in developing skills that support students at university and in life. We particularly value fostering communication, confidence, creativity, and collaboration. The postholder needs to be confident delivering lessons in English whilst drawing from student’s own personal experiences and cultural identity.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about going above and beyond for students, particularly when it comes to co-curricular involvement. They will be responsible for shaping every aspect of productions, promoting student leadership and agency. Based on the interests and skills of both the postholder and students, and with ample provision for student leadership, this will include a musical theatre production. Our facilities include a Black Box theatre and a theatre space; our gym converts into a performance space for whole-school events. Further to this, as a member of the EiM family of Dulwich schools, there are opportunities to collaborate within a thriving network on events such as the Worldwise Shakespeare Festival held annually in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The position of Head of Performing Arts, which includes leadership of both the Music and Drama departments, may be available for the right candidate.

As a result, there are regular opportunities for staff to take part in exchanges of practice, lead and partake in cross-school projects, and explore opportunities for greater responsibilities whilst gaining valuable experience.
Our school is on the shared campus with our sister school, Dulwich College Suzhou, in Suzhou Industrial Park, providing our students and faculty with an excellent environment for learning and access to a wide range of educational resources.
