High School MBacc English Literary Arts Teacher

Full-time position | Almaty, Kazakhstan
About Us
High Tech Academy is a trilingual, innovative school that combines Finnish and American curriculum through a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach.
Our mission is to nurture next generations of lifelong learners to work together in solving complex challenges.
Position Overview
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic High School MBacc English Literary Arts Teacher who is deeply committed to student-centered education and eager to explore new and effective ways of teaching and learning.
You will teach within the Minerva Baccalaureate (MBacc) — an innovative, competency-based, flipped-classroom program that develops deep thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. The MBacc is a three-year college-preparatory curriculum that integrates rigorous content with transferable cognitive tools and active, interdisciplinary learning. It blends personalized study with instructor-led sessions, focusing on meaningful application and innovation rather than memorization or exam preparation.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and contribute to a positive, forward-thinking school culture.
You are expected to bring curiosity, compassion, and openness to innovation to everything you do. If you thrive in dynamic environments, view ambiguity as an opportunity for creativity and growth, and demonstrate a strong commitment to self-reflection, continuous learning, and professional development, HTA will be a good fit for you.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging lessons in English Literature and Academic Writing
Foster a student-centered, inquiry-based classroom that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and learning progress
Collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching practices and contribute to a culture of innovation and experimentation
Engage in regular self-reflection and participate in ongoing professional learning
Act as an Advisor to a group of 12-15 High School Students
Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote community, empathy, and global citizenship
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in English or Literature from an accredited college or university (master’s degree preferred)
Teaching certification and qualification to teach Language and Literature at the secondary level (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in English Language, Literature, or Academic Writing
Experience working with EAL (English as an Additional Language) students
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Prior experience in coaching a competitive school debate team will be a strong advantage
