High Tech Academy is a trilingual, innovative school that combines Finnish and American curriculum through a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach.
Our mission is to nurture next generations of lifelong learners to work together in solving complex challenges.
Position Overview
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic High School MBacc Social Studies Teacher who is deeply committed to student-centered education and eager to explore new and effective ways of teaching and learning.
You will teach within the Minerva Baccalaureate (MBacc) — an innovative, competency-based, flipped-classroom program that develops deep thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. The MBacc is a three-year college-preparatory curriculum that integrates rigorous content with transferable cognitive tools and active, interdisciplinary learning. It blends personalized study with instructor-led sessions, focusing on meaningful application and innovation rather than memorization or exam preparation.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and contribute to a positive, forward-thinking school culture.
You are expected to bring curiosity, compassion, and openness to innovation to everything you do. If you thrive in dynamic environments, view ambiguity as an opportunity for creativity and growth, and demonstrate a strong commitment to self-reflection, continuous learning, and professional development, HTA will be a good fit for you.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons that inspire critical thinking, inquiry, and global awareness
Create an inquiry-based, discussion-driven classroom that encourages exploration, empathy, and deeper understanding
Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and share best teaching practices
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback
Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote community, equity, and responsible citizenship
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field
Recognized teaching qualification or certification (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Prior experience in coaching a competitive school debate team will be a strong advantage
The majority of our new international faculty now come to us through Schrole. In fact, our school exclusively uses Schrole as our global recruitment tool, having tried and stopped using other sites. This is how much faith we have in Schrole as a valuable resource with good customer service.
